The future of HAM radio!

The Westchester Emergency Communications Association (WECA), holds Field Day at the harbor in Mamaroneck each year.

A good antenna is the key to a fine signal.... This one moves!

Field Day is basicly a communications dry run for any emergency that might really happen.

What do good HAM's do when not moderating a net?

Clubs from all over the country set up temporary stations and keep records of their contacts. Each contact is worth points. Clubs compete against each other for "bragging rights".

The Red Cross supplies some power.

No system can operate without power. WECA has power to spare!

Every Army works better with a full belly.

Field Day is a time for old friends, as well as new ones to have fun, support the club and have a fine meal together. For "fast food", WECA puts out a wonderful spread.

All you can eat for one price... What a deal!

Wherever you are, stop by your local HAM club's Field Day. It's held the end of June every year.

Local towns are happy to allow clubs to use local parks.

If your not a HAM operator, don't worry. Most clubs operate a "GOTA" station. "GOTA" stands for "Get On The Air". It's goal is to give everyone a taste of HAM radio. You can make contacts, chat around the country and the world.

Some clubs have classes (WECA does) and most do VE testing (again, WECA does!). Even if they don't have a class, you will always find a HAM willing to dedicate their time to helping you get your license! It's hard to find a HAM who won't help.

Visit our photo gallery to see more of these and other related photos and videos.

WECA holds monthly meetings on the first Monday evening of each month, at the Westchester County Center (Free Parking and Admission). Each month there is a different presentation by a person very knowledgeable in there field. It's well worth the trip!

Our sites receive an average of 80,000 to 95,000 hits a month. You are enjoying our work for
FREE. Please donate to the Yonkers PAL Ham Radio Club education fund. We buy Amateur Radio text books, lend them to future Hams, Mentor & administer the FCC Exam.
After they pass the test they trade the text book in for the next class of license book!

Text books cost $21 and the FCC exam is $14. Donate what you can. Every dollar helps!
Use Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, or Paypal.
Just click the button and it will take you to the donation page.
